MultiLing Voices #4 2022
In this issue, we look back at a busy year filled with great research, interesting and thought-provoking seminars, workshops, PhD courses, guest lecturers, and collaborations. As the project INTPART 2.0 comes to an end, a big group from MultiLing took part at INTPART 2.0 Summer School and closing conference in Cape Town. Additionally, as at the end of every year, we have awarded our MA grants to three talented and hard-working students.

In this issue of MultiLing Voices, we are highlighting MultiLing in the media and some of our recent publications including Seyed Hadi Mirvahedi's latest edited book, Linguistic Landscapes in South-East Asia: The Politics of Language and Public Signage. Fall has been a busy and productive time for MultiLing and you can read more about our many events that took place during September and October - all of them being the first in-person events since the pandemic. MultiLing Voices #1 2022
In this issue, we present the many changes that marked the beginning of 2022 at MultiLing. Unn Røyneland became the new Center Director in January, assisted by Ingebjørg Tonne as Deputy Director. Natalia Kartushina is the new Theme 1 leader, while Theme 2/3 will continue to be led by Haley De Korne. Anne Charlotte Lindblom-Rosén is the acting Head of Administration until October 1. We are happy to welcome our new Associate Professor of Multilingualism, Luca Onnis, who joined the MultiLing team on March 1. Finally, the Socio-Cognitive Laboratory was awarded funding to become a new competence hub on eye-tracking and pupillometry at the University of Oslo, EyeHub, led by lab manager Franziska Köder.

In this issue of MultiLing Voices, we are proud to present our Annual Report, where you can read more about MultiLing’s many achievements in 2021. We would also like to officially introduce Luca Onnis, who recently joined MultiLing as an Associate Professor in Multilingualism. Benvenuto, Luca! In addition, a big shout out to Elisabeth García González and Ingvild Badhwar Valen-Sendstad, who organized a very successful and highly relevant workshop on intersectional experiences in academia. We would also like to congratulate Pia Lane on her latest co-edited book: Negotiating Identities in Nordic Migrant Narratives. Finally, we are happy to announce that our Socio-Cognitive Lab Team is expanding and is currently looking for a permanent Lab Engineer.

MultiLing Voices Special Edition: MA program in Multilingualism
The interdisciplinary master's in Multilingualism offers a unique opportunity to examine multilingualism through a variety of theoretical lenses, to develop advanced research skills, and to contribute to real-world challenges in language and communication at individual and societal levels. The first cohort of students will join the master's program in multilingualism in the autumn of 2022. The program is currently accepting student applications.

In this issue of MultiLing Voices, we summarize a challenging but very productive year. We have had the first doctoral defense ever interpreted into Norwegian Sign Language at the Faculty of Humanities, two successful doctoral schools, several important publications, and numerous digital and in-person workshops and seminars. In the last issue of 2020, we reflect on this extraordinary year and what it has demanded of us, but also on the opportunities it has provided us with. We have had a hybrid doctoral defense and numerous digital events, our flagship project MultiLing Dementia is coming to a close, and our MA grants have been awarded to three exciting projects.

Welcome to a somewhat different version of our newsletter. In Norway, we are in our third week of closed schools and universities due to the coronavirus. It was sad to see the wonderful events we had planned this spring cancelled or postponed. However, we are impressed by the speed with which some of them have gone digital. Let us not forget that although we are physically isolated from one another in these uncertain times, socially, through digital communication, we are closer than ever.

This issue of MultiLing Voices is dedicated to the memory of our dear colleague and friend, Janne Bondi Johannessen, who passed away in June, only 59 years old. She was Professor of Linguistics and Language Technology at the Department of Linguistics and Scandinavian Studies, University of Oslo. Since 2013, Janne was a key member of MultiLing's core group, where she was the Center's most important capacity in the field of Heritage Languages.

Hirut Woldemariam, as our invited speaker at the Women & Leadership Roundtable. We also got word that Toril Opsahl and colleagues were awarded prestigious RCN funding for their new project.
