Cultural Encounters between Norwegian Marte Meo-Therapists and Caregivers at Haydom Lutheran Hospital in Tanzania (completed)

This project studies cross-cultural lingua franca interaction between Norwegian therapists and Tanzanian caregivers working in an orphanage in Tanzania. 

About the project

The project is connected to a larger project in which therapists from The Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ABUP) at Sørlandet Hospital seek to strengthen the focus among caregivers on motherless infant’s mental health. Video recordings from counseling sessions are analyzed in a multimodal perspective.

Objectives

The aim of the project is to analyze how the participants deal with the potentially challenging asymmetries in linguistic, cultural and professional background.Outcomes
