About the project
The study aims to investigate some aspects of second language writing in a Norwegian school context. Identity constructions in young Somalians’ texts, the students’ writing experiences and their reflections on the topics given in the subject “Norwegian” are the main approaches of the study. The students are approximately 16-20 years old and have limited school experience prior to immigrating to Norway.
The study has a sociocultural theoretical framing, using Functional Grammar as the main analysis tool. Some important notions in the study are “identity”, “agency” and “voice”.
