Academic interests

I am a historian of early to high medieval Britain. I specialise in the history and history-writing of the medieval Brittonic peoples, and my current research focuses on Brittonic narratives and prophecies of reconquest, and analyses them through postcolonial and biblical frameworks. I am further interested in the histories of early to high medieval Northern and Western Europe, and the impacts of war and religion on the cultural histories of the peoples therein.

Background

Before my current position I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology and History at the universities of Cardiff and Oslo. I then specialised in medieval history for my Masters at Cardiff. Afterwards I applied my education working within the heritage sector at Cardiff Castle and later working as a field archaeologist with Wessex Archaeology.
