I am a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art and Ideas, working under the supervision of Sebastian Watzl (UiO). My position is part of his ERC-funded research project GOODATTENTION .
Academic interests
My research interests lie at the intersection of Epistemology, Philosophy of Language, and Philosophy of Mind.
I am fascinated by the fact that the road to knowledge is paved with conflicts. Not all of these conflicts are over what we believe . Some of these conflicts are over which questions to prioritize from a range of questions we face. How we resolve them decides what we know about the objective reality of the world.
In my Ph.D. dissertation, I argue that attention is what prioritizes some questions and ignores others or treats them as subordinate. Hence, conflicts over prioritisation of questions are conflicts in attention . Further, following the question-under-discussion framework in pragmatics, I assume that an essential purpose of communication is to come to agree upon things by addressing questions of common interest. This implies that interpersonal conflicts over which questions to prioritize are communicative conflicts in attention. I am particularly interested in interpersonal conflicts where each interlocutor simultaneously occupies both oppressed and oppressive social positionalities.
