Reading Room on the 3rd Floor of PAM
The reading room on the 3rd floor of P.A. Munch's building is a common reading room for all Master's students at the Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages.
To reduce the spread of the corona virus you need to book a space in order to use the reading room.

You can book a space in the reading room for up to three days in advance, and have a maximum of four future bookings.
Remember to cancel your booking if you are unable to use it, so that others can use the space instead.

Guidelines for using the reading room:
- keep at least one meter distance between each other, also when entering and exiting the room, and when inside the room
- only use the numbered spaces
- clean the reading space with antibacterial wipes before and after use. You will find wipes right inside the door, by the storage lockers
- wash your hands and use antibacterial liquid frequently
- stay home if you are feeling ill

You can use the printer and the PC-desk next to it if you need to print something. Please wash the PC, keyboard and printer with antibacterial wipes before and after use.
The designated resting area is closed until further notice.
Fixed spaces in the reading room are only given to students with special needs, and this needs to be documented.

All Master's students at IKOS should automatically have access to the reading room through their student card. You can get your student card at SiOSenteret in Kristian Ottosens hus. Should you experience problems with access, please contact the reception on the 4th floor, or send us an email.
The reading hall has a designated resting area. Be aware that noise can be heard outside the room, so please be considerate.
NB: Thefts were previously very common in the reading room, so it is recommended to use the lockers. The department is not responsible for lost property. We advise against placing personal belongings on your desk unattended and to use a suitable lock for securing your laptop.

Free reading desks
The free reading desks can only be used on a day-to-day basis. The desk must be cleared every evening. The purpose of free reading desks is to ensure that students without an allocated desk can find an available space when necessary. It is not possible for students to reserve a free space on the list of reading desks.
There are 96 lockers in the reading room. The students must provide their own padlocks. The lockers are numbered, and students must send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with name and locker number for registration. This is required, as we need to be able to identify the owner of the contents if we have to cut the lock. If not registered, the lockers can be emptied without notice.
The lockers are on a first come, first serve basis. Those who do not get a locker, can obtain a locker in the basement of the Sophus Bugge Building through the "Filologisk forening".
IT-equipment and copy paper
The faculty IT department at Faculty of Humanities is responsible for the 17 PC-desks in the reading room, wireless network in the whole room, as well solving technical issues with the printer. Paper and toner cartridges is available in the IKOS reception on the 4th floor.
