Jon Inge Faldalen is Associate Professor and Founder of Screen Cultures at the Department of Media and Communication at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Oslo, Norway, where he teaches courses on film history, film theory, television aesthetics, alternative film, screen cultures, textual analysis and audiovisual aesthetics. STILLMOVING examines the aesthetics of stillness in moving images through conceptualizing and theory-building analyses of works of the Lumières, Orson Welles, André Bazin and James Benning. Faldalen’s long-standing research prism is what he calls the still Einstellung. He is currently writing the book BECOMING THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD: JOACHIM TRIER, STYLE AND THE PHASES OF FILMMAKING for SUNY Press.
