General information about elections
How often are elections held?
Within the groups permanent Scientific Staff and Technical-Administrative Staff, the staff elect their representatives every four years.
Representatives for Fixed-term Staff and for students are elected each year.
An external representative is appointed every four years by the faculty board following a proposal from the department board.
Who has the right to vote?
According to UiO's election regulations, employees in at least half a position at the units that carry out elections, as well as professor II's, have the right to vote. Decisive for voting rights is the employment relationship on the day the person votes. You can vote for people within your own voting rights group.
Students must be registered for the semester to have the right to vote. The right to vote applies at the department/faculty in which they are registered.

Autumn 2024
In the autumn of 2024, elections were held for the department board for the period 2025-2028.
Three permanent representatives and three deputy representatives for permanent academic staff (term of office: 4 years), one permanent representative and one deputy representative for temporary academic staff (term of office: 1 year) and one permanent representative and one deputy representative for technical-administrative staff (term of office: 4 years).
