I am a PhD fellow in Norse philology in the Norse and Celtic Philology research group. Originally from Malta, I moved to Oslo five years ago to pursue a Masters at ILN. My research interest is primarily in cultural encounters in the Middle Ages, focusing on Scandinavian-Muslim relations.
As a representative, I will strive to ensure that temporary staff have access to and knowledge of financial resources available for research-adjacent activities. I believe that a PhD fellowship is a learning experience that prepares us for an academic career and should thus be an opportunity to dip our feet into relevant activities in addition to research, e.g. the organisation of conferences, workshops, public outreach etc. The interdisciplinary nature of our research also calls for more collaborative opportunities with other faculties and departments, and I will make sure to facilitate collaboration where necessary. Finally, I believe that the committee should always consider the institute's non-Norwegian-speaking employees by ensuring that it provides the information they need to participate actively.
