Academic interests

I am interested in children's and adolescents' experience of belonging and identity in a mediated reality. The PhD project is a qualitative study of youth between 16 and 19 years of age, and their media habits and uses of YouTube from the following perspectives:

  • Media habits and entertainment media as symbolic goods and identity markers
  • Class and social differences
  • Internet culture and identity
  • Internet as an extension of reality
  • Authenticity

Until December of 2023 a visiting scholar at the Department for Youth and Media Entertainment, University of Amsterdam
