Bakgrunn

Bernard Dionysius Geoghegan er medieteoretiker og teknologihistoriker, og redaktør for tidsskriftet Grey Room. Geoghegan har skrevet omfattende om global konflikt og kulturell forskjell i utviklingen av kunstig intelligens, kybernetikk, informasjonsteori, menneske–maskin-interaksjon (HCI) og multimediedesign. I forlengelsen av disse temaene har han også skrevet inngående om den mediale og teknologiske historien til 1900-tallets filosofi, med særlig vekt på prosjekter, plattformer og programmer som knyttet franske teoretikere og informatikere sammen i et felles epistemisk prosjekt fra omkring 1945 til 1975. Boken hans Code: From Information Theory to French Theory kom ut på Duke University Press i 2023. Andre essays og tekster er publisert i tidsskrifter som Critical Inquiry, Representations og Grey Room. Disse forskningsinteressene preger også arbeidet hans som kurator og mediepraktiker, blant annet i prosjekter om antropocen som planetarisk infrastruktur ved Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
