The key objective of my project is to provide for a better understanding of whether and how aphasic language deficits impact the ability to anticipate upcoming linguistic information in a bilingual brain. More specifically, I am studying verb-mediated predictive language comprehension in Norwegian-English bilinguals with poststroke aphasia. Results of this project will enable better understanding of whether and how (1) persons with aphasia integrate and predict upcoming information in different languages, (2) severity of language impairments is related to their predictive ability, (3) different language systems in the bilingual brain interact in order to provide for better prediction and, consequently, faster comprehension, and (4) what mechanisms underlie predictive language comprehension.
