"A critique of Kant’s ethics"
Advanced course in Research Ethics: Scholars in the humanities are expected to contribute knowledge to the society. Their work and insights often call for or aims at social change. This course critically examines research for social change and debates about scholar activism.
Advanced course in methods: This is part two of a two part course on texts in historical contexts. Each course can be taken independently, but it is strongly recommended to take both.
Dr Bonnie Evans is a Senior Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, and author of The Metamorphosis of Autism (Manchester University Press). She has a PhD from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, Cambridge University, and has held a research fellowship at King’s College, London's Centre for Medical Humanities. She has lectured in the international history of child sciences, psychology and eugenics. In addition to her academic work, she writes for popular publications such as Aeon Magazine, and has appeared on BBC television.

Teresa Baron will present "Why-UD? Assessing the requirement to trial an intrauterine device before elective sterilisation is approved in female patients". Teresa is a guest researcher at CPS and a Nottingham Research Fellow working on reproductive ethics and philosophy of parenthood.

The Perceiving Representations project is organising a workshop on perceptions in which learning, imagination or the structure of the perception has significantly influenced or contributed to it.
"Democracy and Liability to Intervention"
Eric Turkheimer is a psychologist and behavioral geneticist, known for his research on the complex interplay between genetics and environmental factors in human behavior. His work has challenged the traditional nature vs. nurture dichotomy, demonstrating instead that genetic and environmental factors interact in complex and dynamic ways to shape human development and behavior. His influential "Three Laws of Behavior Genetics" have become a cornerstone of the field, guiding researchers and shaping public understanding of the interplay between genes and environment. He is currently the Hugh Scott Hamilton Professor of Psychology at the University of Virginia.

This is the fifth workshop on Kantian Foundations of Democracy. KanDem is the first large scale analysis of the democratic theory of the Kantian School in Germany in the 1790s. For more information about the project, please visit the project web page.
