Welcome to our student blog! Here you can read about the students' exciting experiences both on campus and while studying abroad.
Explore the students unique stories:
For our cultural blog project, our group wanted to explore Egyptian culture through food — one of the most authentic windows into a country’s identity.
We visited the boutique Nasser Palestine in Torshov where we had a conversation with the owner Ibrahim Nasser. Nasser was born and raised in Ramallah and has deep conviction to share the Palestinian culture through food and poetry.
Earlier this year, we had the incredible opportunity to attend the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in Dubai. As students passionate about language, culture, and storytelling, the festival provided a unique space to connect with like-minded individuals from all over the world.
“My vision with my art is freedom for women to express them self, to be stronger, to talk about taboos and difficult things. Body ownerships, who owns the body is reflected in my art.”
This journey started at Chateau Neuf in the fall of 2022, where two girls, full of jokes and nonsense, decided that the best idea for broke students is to use their money on traveling.
My fondest memories from Jordan were the long nights of Ramadan.
... and my acquaintance with Arabic liturgical music.
For some time, there have been these questions when I have been back in Norway: “Can women drive in Oman (the country share border with Saudi Arabia)?”.
What is the first thing that comes to your mind when asked about the Middle East?
During our Arabic class, we students had the opportunity to produce a podcast on Jordanian food with a royal twist!
Our group agreed that the most interesting aspect of Arabic culture is the food. It’s not only the variety of spices that caught our interest, but also how important sharing food with loved ones is in Arabic culture.
This spring, us students of ARA B had the opportunity to improve our Arabic skills by making a podcast.
