Academic interests

Professor in media innovations at the University of Oslo and Chief Scientist at SINTEF Digital. I focuses on the use, motivations, and societal impact of generative artificial intelligence technologies, including chatbots and large language models like ChatGPT and Bard. 

I am currently the project leader for "An-AI-Powered Society" and "The AI Democracy Research Group".  Two research initiatives examining how generative AI influences free speech and democracy in society.

Recently been featured among the world's top 2% scientists list, according to a Standford University study.  

Worked on various projects (e.g. SocialHealthBots, REVEALCitiSenseEuKidsOnline, i2i, Citizen Media) and for a range of European companies, including several international collaborations.

Visiting scholar:  New York University in 2010.

Education: Ph.D. in Media and Communication Studies, University of Oslo (2012) and M.Sc. in Psychology at Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2000). 

Master of management program in Innovation Management in a Global Business Perspective, Norwegian Business School (2014).

Projects
