We are an interdisciplinary group of researchers who use approaches from, e.g., cultural history, book history, global history, social and economic history to question the history of capitalism. The discussions within this working group tend to focus on the circulation of knowledge in different geographical and temporal contexts. Digital humanities are in the core of some of our projects.
We hold regular meetings, invite researchers to present their work, and serve as a hub for hosting projects related to the central research themes. Some of the research themes of particular concern to members of the group include:
- Companies and multinational corporations
- Intellectual property, including questions of ownership, property, and public goods
- Institutions and processes of industrialization and urbanization
- Transnational trade, colonial, decolonial, and neocolonial economies, and more generally colonialism
- Manufacturing, consumption, and issues of de-materialization and re-materialization of production
- Communication and cultural industries, including branding, trademarking, and advertising
- Formal and practical education
