History of Capitalism
Questioning the history of globalization, from trade history to the growth of large multinational corporations.

This research group studies the history of capitalism and the cultures of capitalism. The geographical scope of our works can be national, international or transnational.
Research works by the members of the group span from the early modern period to the 21st century. They address one or several of the following themes and their history:
- Companies and multinational corporations
- Intellectual property, including questions of ownership, property and public goods
- Transnational trade, colonial, decolonial, and neocolonial economies, and more generally colonialism
- Manufacturing, consumption, and issues of de-materialization and re-materialization of production
- Communication and cultural industries, including branding, trademarking, and advertising
Projects
The History of Capitalism research group hosts several research projects at the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History (IAKH):
- CREATIVE IPR: The history of intellectual property rights in the creative industries. ERC CoG grant 818523, led by Véronique Pouillard.
